Rune: Ragnarok is a game many have asked for over the almost 2 decades and is finally coming to a platform near you. With that, players can look forward to a beta sometime in 2018.
Back in September, developer Human Head Studios revealed that they were working on a sequel to Rune after 17 years in the dark. It’s been a long time coming, and fans have been requesting this for quite some time, but can it live up to the hype?
It’s a tricky situation, but one that HHS seems to be ready to tackle.
The trailer below gives us an idea of what to expect from the open world sandbox RPG. Set during the end of days in the Norse setting, Ragnarok being the theme of the story… hence its title. The trailer actually repeats the beginning of the first trailer, telling us that the stories of the gods falling were false, and that Human-Kind must rise up and end Ragnarok.
Players will pledge allegiance to one of the Norse gods to gain favor and in turn, special abilities that will aid them in their quest. On your journey, you will craft the most powerful weapons the realm has ever seen and conquer some seriously ferocious beasts. But this time, the Gods are your target… do you have what it takes to stop Ragnarok and the end of the world?
Luckily, you will be able to put your mettle to the test sometime this year in a closed beta the developers have confirmed. There are several ways to get a beta key that you can find links to below;
- Sign up for a free account on their website. This will not only increase your chances of winning a Beta key, but also allow you to contribute to their forums, participate in contests, and take a special ‘God Alignment Quiz’.
- Enter their contests. They will be running a new contest every other Monday, and every contest winner will receive a Beta key and have their winning entry featured in Rune: Ragnarok.
- Like them on Facebook. Simply like their Facebook group and you may be given a Beta key.
They do point out you don’t need to like them in order to get a key, as any one of those ways will enter you in towards one. But the more ways you enter, the higher chance you have of getting a key, so it never hurts to do them all.
Sadly, they haven’t yet announced dates for when this beta will go live, so stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
