It’s a sad day for gamers, as perhaps the most anticipated game to release in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2, has been delayed until the end of the year.
The AAA gaming industry is getting hit hard lately, with Anthem getting delayed into next year and now Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2. Luckily for fans of this franchise, it’s not into next year, however, it is still a sizeable delay. Sure, we may not have had a concrete release date before, but we did expect it to release into the Springtime.
Now officially confirmed for a release on October 26th for PS4 and Xbox One, players have a solid date to put on their calendars.
Rockstar had this to say about the news:
We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th 2018. We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.
We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks.
It’s never fun to hear that a game you’re looking forward to has been pushed back to a further date and you have to wait longer. But, it’s just the nature of our industry, and hopefully, it just means the game will turn out better in the end. And if Rockstar’s history is anything to go by, we have nothing to worry about with Red Dead Redemption 2.
It will be interesting to see how the game turns out though with fans due to what Rockstar’s parent company said recently about Microtransactions. With the success of Grand Theft Auto V and becoming the best selling game in history, every Take Two game going forward would have them implemented. It’s doubtful this will cause an issue with the game’s popularity in the end.
