PS4 update 5.00 adds to the multitude of upgrades already introduced with the likes of Team Tournaments and more in the events menu.
PS4 update 5.00 launched last week and while it didn’t have the hottest of new features, we’re going to talk about probably the biggest feature, Team Tournaments. In addition to all the other improvements outlined before here, Team Tournaments adds a new dynamic to the system as a whole instead of leaving it up to games to proctor them.
They launched October 5th and are in the event section of your PS4. Just look and you will find a space where you can join and/or create up to 60 teams. These teams, from around the world, can then go head to head in a tournament of your setting for a chance to win prizes. (As of this writing, I have not been able to find any more detailed info on what the prizes are. Stay tuned for more!) Apparently, there will be a hierarchy system of team owners and captains and the like as well as the ability to host and customize a team page.
The early game support list is small but it’s a strong list. Including games like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, World of Tanks and Mantis Burn Racing. This addition along with the social features, family management, streaming and community updates really take the PS4 to new and better heights as a gaming and entertainment hub. But what do you think Coin Droppers? Did this update live up to your expectations? What were some disappointments on your end? They didn’t quite live up to some of our loftier hopes, and we don’t quite think this one was deserving of a .0 update, but it does add a decent amount of new features none the less.
