The PlayerUnknown’s Battleground launch date has finally been revealed, and it’s sooner than you’d expect an Early Access game that launched 11 months ago.
PUBG is a big title. So much so that, as the trailer above says, it’s the most played game of 2017. Honestly, with the 24 million copies sold in 8 months, it’s probably the most played game in the last several years. Which is why the official launch is an exciting announcement.
Everyone who’s at all been following it knows that the Xbox One release date is tomorrow, but to see the official PC launch so soon after Early Access is pretty much unheard of. The game will officially launch version 1.0 on PC December 20th, with the new Desert map already available on test servers.
For those who don’t know, PlayerUnknown’s Battleground is a Battle Royale game that pits 100 players against each other on a massive map. There are 4 modes from Solo, Duo, Squad, and Zombie that give players plenty of different options to keep things fresh. The Zombie mode actually started out as a user-created mode that Bluehole liked and eventually brought it to the base game. There are other modes as well that have the potential to come to the game, although, as with any Early Access game, it’s likely they will continue to support the game and release plenty of new content as the month’s pass.
PUBG still doesn’t have a firm PS4 confirmation. Although, Bluehole has pretty much confirmed it will happen… eventually. So PC players, keep having fun. Xbox users, get ready to jump in. PlayStation, hold on strong, it should happen down the line.
