Biomutant has been announced by THQ Nordic and it looks incredibly Unique. This open world Action RPG looks to be something special.
THQ Nordic just dropped some new info on their latest game in development: Biomutant.
For those late to the pitch, Biomutant is the story of an anthropomorphic creature. Skilled in the art of Kung Fu, Swordplay, and the finer points of a revolver.
It’s set in an open world environment themed upon ancient Chinese mythos. With towering cliffs, open meadows, scattered shorelines, and hidden villages. All in a beautifully crafted and themed art style.
The game harks back to the older style of gaming with its many elements. With cartoonish and themed enemies, unconventional and outlandish weaponry that are mixed into a hack-and-slash-shoot combat system. The trailer eludes to a fine array of weapons and armaments. From mechs and paragliders, to heavy revolvers and barbed swords. Here’s hoping the players will get a chance to customize weapons to their play style. Or at least offer a simple upgrade system with plenty of options.
Another classic concept from yesterday year is the inclusion of anthropomorphic NPC’s to help you along your way. Mixed in with sprawling environments, and a true novelty. They even showed off some gameplay footage along with the above CG trailer, and it’s pretty clear it’s not a heavily choreographed demo.
BioMutant is certainly a title to watch out for in these coming months if you want a flashback to the good ole days, done in a beautiful stylized form. All it’s missing is a bow at the moment.
Some of the games main features include:
- Real-Time combat: Melee, guns, and Abilites
- Hugely Customizable Character: Bionics offer powerful prosthetics, while Mutations offer physical changes as well as powers
- Automation sidekick: customizable living robotic toys
- Pilotable Vehicles: Customizable Mech, Jetski & UFO
- Creative crafting system: open creation of weapons & Gear
